Eltel’s Power Transmission business joins resources between Finland, Sweden and Norway to create more synergies in the Nordic market. Mats Björkman is the new head of Power Transmission Nordic.Eltel has built a position as a partner for the transmission system operators in Finland, Sweden and Norway. Numerous projects have been delivered with great references. In order to meet better the customer requirements during the tendering and project execution phases it has become even more important as a contractor to collaborate efficiently cross borders. Eltel has decided to join forces of Sweden, Finland and Norway into one Nordic business entity called Eltel Power Transmission Nordic.
Mats Björkman has been appointed the head of the newly formed organization. He will continue to report to Fredrik Menander, President of Eltel Power Transmission business unit. Mats Björkman joined Power Transmission in the beginning of 2013 to be in charge of the business in Sweden. Norway was added to his area of responsibility in summer 2013. Mats joined Eltel in year 2000 and has since held several management positions both in project operations, business development, IS/IT and procurement in the company.
Fredrik Menander comments the establishment of the new Nordic entity and appointment of Mats Björkman: “Eltel has a great foothold to build power transmission systems in the Nordic countries. We have delivered great projects and are appreciated by customers for our professionalism, quality and flexibility. In order to utilize better our comprehensive experience between the countries, and to meet customer requirements even better, we decided to form this Nordic business entity. Mats has an excellent background and experience to take over the responsibility of the combined business entity and to develop the operations one step forward.”
Mats Björkman comments on the new Nordic entity and his new role: “We have some very important tenders in progress and our goal is naturally to show customers that Eltel is the most professional and competent partner to choose. My appointment is however not only an organizational change within Eltel but also an important indication of the ongoing development in the whole power sector. Power transmission sector has in general become much more internationally connected and also the contractors like Eltel are working much more cross borders than earlier. By forming a Nordic entity, and resource pool, we are confident to be able to meet the varying needs of investments and projects of our customers more efficiently.”
The present head of Eltel’s Power Transmission in Finland, Tapio Leskinen, has been appointed head of Operational Development. He will be reporting to Fredrik Menander, President of Eltel Power Transmission.
The following appointments have been made to strengthen the newly formed Nordic business entity, all reporting to Mats Björkman:
· Jaakko Pitkänen has been appointed head of Purchasing and Logistics
· Ari Eskola has been appointed head of Substations.
