Eltel Networks TE AB in Sweden has won in international competition a part of construction in Svenska Kraftnät’s SouthWest link project. Value of contract is EUR 19 million. The purpose of the investment is to improve the reliability of the grid in the Southern part of Sweden. The connection is also aimed to prepare for the large scale expansion of wind power, part of the Swedish and European climate policy. Another goal is to limit the differences in electricity prices between regions.

The project consists of materials and all works including foundations, ground work, installation of steel structures, installation of insulators, and cable pulling. Dismantling of the current 220 kV line is also part of the project.
”We are very happy to win this contract and gain the trust of Svenska Kraftnät to construct the backbone grid of Sweden’s electricity supply. The volume and schedule of the project provides us with a stable platform for today and future growth”, says Mats Björkman, Director of Business Unit Transmission Sweden.
The project starts in June and extends till autumn of 2014.
