Eltel and Fingrid have signed an agreement for the construction of Kalajoki−Siikajoki 110 kV + 400 kV power line in western Finland.
The new transmission line is a part of Fingrid’s investment program in the western part of Finland to replace the present 220 kV power system with a new 400 kV grid. The line will also enable future wind power plant connections to the national grid.
The length of the new line is approximately 60 kilometres, and it will be built along the existing line route. Design works will start immediately, and the new power line will be commissioned in autumn 2016.
”This contract is important to us. Together with Pyhänselkä−Siikajoki project, signed earlier this year, they will enable further investments and development of operations,” says Tuomas Antikainen, Director of Eltel Power Transmission business Finland.
