Eltel’s Power business Smart Grids has signed an agreement with Kamstrup, a leading manufacturer of system solutions for smart energy metering, to install 275 000 smart meters in Gothenburg. The agreement is worth about EUR 14 million.

With the agreement, Eltel and Kamstrup enter into a collaboration with overall responsibility for the installations of the new generation of smart electricity meters, which includes project management, planning, staffing, logistics and contact with end customers, on behalf of Göteborg Energi.

The new smart electricity meters meet the new functional requirements set by the Swedish government that will enter into force on 1 January 2025.

Detailed planning for the implementation of the project begins now. The actual replacement of the electricity meters will primarily take place during the period 2023-2024.
