Environment and climate

Eltel is active in an industry that plays a key role in the transformation to a low-carbon society.

By supporting our customers to develop innovative infranet solutions, we help society to mitigate, adapt and become more resilient to the effects of climate change. We also strive to minimise the environmental impacts of our operations.

Climate and the environment

We proactively work in the area of climate and the environment in our own operations as well in our value chain. The strategic priority of core operational improvements has resulted in a considerable reduction in CO2 emissions as a result of better production planning and the introduction of digital route planning systems.

By maintaining a modern and fuel-efficient vehicle fleet, we minimise emissions per kilometre. Our ambition is to move towards a fossil-free fleet and we strive to electrify the fleet in line with technological developments. Every time a lease contract comes up for renewal, we consider the possibility of introducing lighter vehicles that run on renewables and/or less fuel, by switching to hybrid or electric vehicles.

Other important and prioritised topics

Other important and prioritised environmental topics include circular economy, waste management and the responsible sourcing of materials. We work to minimise impact on the physical environmental, disruption and noise from our work sites.

Environmental risks

Working to minimise vehicle emissions, we face external challenges related to access to electric vehicles, lack  lack of charging stations in rural areas and increasing renewable diesel prices.
