Silje Kristiansen – Project Manager
Hi Silje. You’ve been with Eltel for over 20 years. What roles have you had?
I was working for a small telecom company when we were acquired by Eltel in 2004. I worked in the invoice department before spending six years as a project controller, and I became a project manager in 2018.
Could you tell us what you do now on a day-to-day basis?
I work mainly with indoor network coverage projects. My role involves making sure that we have the right people at the right place at the right time, which can be challenging when working with many sites at once. I also work on ordering material and equipment, and of course my overall objective is to deliver each project on time and within budget.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I like overcoming problems and solving challenges. We use similar equipment on most projects, but the challenges to be overcome can differ significantly from project to project. I have great colleagues and it is a nice place to work.
How is Eltel as an employer?
There are always opportunities to develop personally and professionally at Eltel. I have learnt so much and had the chance to try new things along the way.
Can you tell us what you’re working on now?
I am currently working on 35 different projects, although they are mostly small projects and are not all in progress at the same time. My largest project involves a communications network in a hospital. I am increasingly dealing with private property owners who need help with their communication networks.
What are your future career hopes?
I am about to complete a project management qualification. So I would like to work more on larger projects in the future – I really enjoy working on complex projects that involve overcoming problems with a team.
