Torben Degn, Network Consultant
Hi Torben. How long have you worked in the industry?
I have worked for Eltel since 2011. Before that I spent around 30 years working for Banedanmark – which is responsible for maintenance and traffic control on most of the Danish railway network.
What are your main day-to-day activities?
I am a technical project leader on Eltel’s project to upgrade the communications networks throughout the Danish rail system. My role is exciting as I work as a kind of middle man between our designers, our people in the field, project partners and the customer. My role involves solving problems and ensuring a good project delivery.
What do you like about your job?
My role is really interesting – I like the responsibility I have and getting people to cooperate to overcome issues. I also enjoy working to make the project a success for the customer and society in general. Our solution will significantly enhance the entire Danish rail network and travel experiences for passengers.
What do you like about working for Eltel?
Eltel is a great company to work for. I’m given a lot of freedom to develop solutions and ultimately deliver excellent results. It is also exciting to work for a dynamic and innovative company that is always ready to try new processes and solutions.
What are your aspirations for the future?
I could imagine working with quality in the future as I find it interesting and I like to do things well first time round. I am also interested in network security, which is becoming more and more important in our increasingly digital societies.
